There is a proposed X ray observatory named AXIS, which also happens to be the name of a fake observatory used for simulations.

The Probe class selection of missions will be in the last quarter of this calendar year. If AXIS is not selected for Phase A, then we don't have to worry! If it does get selected and survives Phase A, it would launch in 2032, so we have a little while.
