Greetings everyone! The second update of the year is here.

What’s New

• CKB Light Client
  • We optimized CKB light client’s handling of long-fork
  • Completed the code security audit
  • Released the first binary release v0.2.1 as a preview
• Molecule - the serialization scheme designed for CKB
  • Added primitive types support. This upgrade reduced some of the overhead of writing scaffolding code by hand.
  • The rust version is almost finished, and the go version will follow after.
• Lua Scripting Support
  • Capsule now supports ckb-lua templates, allowing you to skip scaffolding code and get started easier and faster.

What’s Coming

• We are testing and fixing the issues found during the CKB Light Client code security audit.
• The draft of the open transaction format proposal is undergoing review, we will make it public soon.
• The SDK team is working to add RPC support of methods get_block and get_block_by_number with parameters verbosity and with_cycles
  • The verbosity parameter allows you to control the format of the returned blocks, which can be useful in performance scenarios where a large amount of block data needs to be synchronized via rpc
  • The with_cycles parameter allows you to get the cycles consumed by the transactions in the block
• We are currently planning and gathering proposals for the next hardfork, which is expected to bring new vm features and improve softfork’s signal mechanism.
