Sorry, forgot to make my small request (ha!). Can you publish a beta of a simple database viewer? |

Thanks for the idea/suggestion. At the moment all are just work-in-progress. We have been still finding, understanding, learning many aspects. There is no last/ultimate design/data structure. Nothing is decided yet |

Hello again, pham! I really like the database approach(s) you are taking, with one exception. The created test database is just too big (17gb for 3.5 million games).
I will go back to something I mentioned earlier. I (and probably many others) really don't need the position information (fens, Zobrist, bitboards, whatever) for EVERY position.
This should be a user selectable parameter when the PGN files are imported (i.e. "all", "none", "1st 10 moves", "every Nth move", "last 5 moves", etc). I am sure you get my idea.
That way the user can CONFIGURE the size and time-building process of the database to suit his individual needs, both chess-wise and hardware-wise.
The user might be an amateur chess player but one with plenty of computer hardware that does not care how big the database is, or vice-versa.
User-based selections such as this will eliminate much of the somewhat wild (but somewhat well-founded) complaints on the TalkChess thread.
Thank you for your hard work on this database and I hope you can keep progressing.
