Making the internet look a lot like Christmas. 🎅
Get it at your local Chrome Web Store.
Let it snow is also at Product Hunt!🎄
Have you ever had a Christmas without any snow? Maybe you're one of those cellar dwellers that never leave your basement? Then this is the extension for you! Getting into the Christmas spirit without ever even looking out. Let it snow takes all of those shitty websites you're visiting - and makes them amazing with the help of snow.
It's super easy to get going with Let it snow. Just download the extension here and you should be good to go. The next site you visit will get better than it was before - because now it's snowing.
So - what does it really do?
- Takes a shitty site and makes it amazing. 🎄
- Makes your favorite site even better! 🎿
- It makes it snow in the browser. ❄️
- Makes listening to Mariah Carey and Bing Crosby a lot more immersive. 🎶
Let it snow is configurable. You can change the amount of snow flowing down the screen, the size of the snowflakes, and at what speed they should graciously flow over those pixels.
What are you waiting for? Get into that Christmas spirit and get Let it snow!
You might be visiting a site that is not supported - such as the Chrome extension store. It could also be that the site you're visiting is white.. and you know.. snow is white.
Well.. the site you're visiting might not support extensions - such as the Chrome extension store. It might also be that you need to reload the page you're currently visiting.
At the top right of your browser - you should see a blue little icon (that's the Let it snow icon), click that and it should show. If the icon isn't showing, there should be a "puzzle button", click that and pin the Let it snow icon. Now it should always be available at the top of your browser.
It should ™️ be fairly straight forward to make this build locally.
- Clone the repo to somewhere where you can find it.
- Go to the
Let it snow
directory and run Yarn (I've used Yarn, but it could also work with NPM, no guarantees). - Wait for the packages to get installed.
- If you're going to be testing - run
yarn build
and you'll get sourcemaps. - If you're going to create a production build - omit the sourcemaps with
yarn prod
. - Go to the extension manager in Chrome and activate Developer mode.
- Press the big ol'
Load unpacked extension
and select the newly createddist
folder in theLet it snow
directory. - That should be it! If you're experiencing any issues or bugs - please open an issue.
Merry Christmas - and why the heck not - a happy new year 🎄🎅
