Devlog

Initital prototyping has gone swimmingly. I have an environment, using 3d models from Kenney that's starting to take shape. I took some tips from Miziziziziz on making the ps1-ish style, and it's turning out pretty well.

I've not had the motivation to work on this the last few days. I don't know what the 'game' actually is, just these bits that I've cobbled together. I'm going to try to make a TODO list to see if that will help my motivation and spur some inspiration to put some finishing touches on it.

  • hide cursor unless hovering over interactable object

    • fix up messages when picking up keys related to hiding the cursor

2022.10.20

v1.0 and v1.1 have been released. People are playing this game for some reason 😆 Now it's time to add some more spooky stuff.

Objects move around

  • lift and spin miscellaneous objects (pizza, soda cans) - put these on a random timer
  • shift bedroom - move furniture to a different wall
    • add scraping sound
    • add trigger
  • shift living room - move furniture to a new location
    • add scraping sound
    • add trigger

Flickering lights

  • create function to make lights flicker on and off quickly
  • somewhat randomly flicker some lights

Keystealer

  • something steals the a key to a locked door
    • screenshake
    • oof sound
    • animate vignette to red then back to black
    • key is placed somewhere else in house
    • message to say which key was lost
  • set up spawn points for keys
  • set up replacement key scenes
  • set up code to 'randomly' interrupt the player
  • model to jump scare the player?

cold spots?

  • vignette turns blue
  • 'brr it's cold' pops up
  • happens randomly?
