Using firefox 87.0b5 on MacOS Dino fails regularly when platforms are clicked with:

Additionally the initial logo renders incorrectly on firefox:

Type explorer mostly works, but when servers are selected the ame doesn't remain highlighed which means the visual queue of current server is lost. It's not clear if in fact the types are always actually loaded. After a few clicks the labels did tend to get more consistently selected, so may be an initial loading timing issue

It may be worth us adding a note to the release notes to recommend running chrome or safari for now, and looks as if these failures need investigating

Or we could not allow the UI to start if it is running under Firefox. with an appropriate message indicating to use another browser.

  • Or I think better a warning banner (rather than fatal) - in case it gets fixed.
  • Though firefox is still pretty well respected, good for privacy, open source, and probably sits in the triad of main browsers alongside safari and chrome - albeit much smaller % than chromium based browsers

Do we know why it is failing?
Maybe just docs / keep issue open until we can investigate (or someone else would like to)

Additionally in Dino, if trying to access a server that requires scrolling (such as cocoMDS6 in the coco lab demo), though it can be scrolled too and clicked, the action of clicking causes the pane to scroll back and cocoMDS3 be selected

This is still failing on firefox (96.0.2 & 97.0.1)

Whilst there is an entry in the readme, it would seem desirable to have the UI working on firefox
