Binding Your RC Receiver to Your RC Transmitter

The precise instructions on how to bind your receiver to your transmitter will vary based on which model of transmitter you are using.

This is the list of transmitters that are currently in use by the Olin Intelligent Vehicles Lab:

Transmitter

While holding down the click wheel on the transmitter, turn on the power switch.

This will take you to the main menu.

Use the click wheel to navigate to an unused vehicle slot (usually designated by "Acro"), then press the click wheel until you feel a click. This will select your highlighted vehicle as your current vehicle. Press the back button (located to the left of the screen) on the controller to double check that you have the correct vehicle.

Turn the controller off. Turn on your vehicle and connect to it via Mission Planner.

In Mission Planner, click on Initial Setup, Mandatory Hardware, then on RC Calibration. Under "Spektrum Bind," click on the binding button that matches your current RC receiver.

Now, hold down the binding button (located on the top left side of your controller), and turn on the power. Your transmitter should now read "Binding, Model Name."

Continue to hold down the binding button and watch your RC receiver. If you have a DSMX, its LED should blink orange, then settle into a steady orange glow. When you have successfully finished binding your receiver, your controller will return to its usual screen from the binding screen.
