Open Letter of Commitment

Context

The Supply Chain Data Exchange Standard (SC-DEX) is an open, machine-readable JSON data standard developed to streamline the collection, storage, and exchange of supply chain data. This standard is built on principles of interoperability and scalability, allowing for consistent data exchange across different systems while improving transparency and decision-making.

The SC-DEX Open Letter of Commitment invites organizations and technical implementers to join the effort in adopting the standard.

Commitment to SC-DEX

By committing to SC-DEX, organizations align with a community-driven initiative to reduce the inefficiencies caused by data reformatting and duplication. The adoption of SC-DEX enables a standardized approach to supply chain data publication, enhancing data accuracy and reducing processing time.

Commitment Roadmap

The following roadmap outlines the adoption phases for organizations and technical implementers over the next three years:

For Organizations:

Year Milestone
2024 Commitment to adopt SC-DEX
2025 Recommended implementation by all data service partners
2026 SC-DEX preferred among data service providers
2027 Full implementation requested of all service partners

For Technical Implementers:

Year Milestone
2024 Review compatibility with SC-DEX
2025 Begin publishing data in SC-DEX format
2026 Request SC-DEX format from collaborators and partners
2027 All future feature and tool builds compatible with SC-DEX

Commitment is phased to allow gradual adoption and data conversion, with full implementation targeted by 2027.
