Some Background
EddieCon was awesome! And the TeachEddie Lightning talks are a great format that allowed people to build up their confidence and give presentations/talks, while people engaged in the community go to learn something new.
For a while, our weekly #public-speaking calls have been really helpful in making people more comfortable and confident with public speaking. However, I think along with that, it would be really neat if we can organise a monthly community event that gives individuals the time to explain something that they've been working on or are passionate about.
Details about the proposed event
We don't necessarily need to live-stream it, we could also have a lightning-talk session/workshop session in our discord stage. We could run this once every month and have a speaker list set up similar to the "submit your Call for Papers" format. We could also take advantage of this list's diversity, and maybe use this as a process for livestream-with-other-people as well as the discord sessions?
I also think that this can open up a conversational door, and make events/talks from the community more frequent.
The latter most probably won't need Eddie to be present all the time, and I think that way the community can self-engage too...
