I have a need to do some PCIe benchmarking for PolarFire SoC and so I connected my Icicle-kit (as root port) to my PolarFire Evaluation Kit (as endpoint) in hopes of getting them to talk over PCIe. The Icicle-kit does recognize that the PolarFire Evaluation Kit is connected using lspci:
The PolarFire Evaluation Kit is running unmodified bitstream image from AN4597 (latest v2022p1). The endpoint reference design includes some source code for a Linux driver for CentOS and instructions on how to rebuild it. The driver doesn't build properly on the Icicle kit running Linux (not surprising). Any chance to get instructions for building the driver on the Icicle kit for use with the provided pcie_app which does build but doesn't run because the /dev/MS_PCI_DEV device doesn't exist? See AN4597 app note section 3.3.2.1 for current CentOS driver build and installation instructions.
Thanks,
-Tim
