Threats_Harassment
We do not permit targeted harassment of any user. We also do not permit incitement or encouragement to harass people. We define harassment as meeting one of the following criteria:
- Any overt conduct that is designed to threaten, intimidate, alarm or put a person in fear of their safety
- Intentional and repeated unwanted, unwelcome and uninvited behavior designed to demean, threaten or create a hostile environment for the person experiencing it
Context matters a lot in determining harassment. Sometimes friends, colleagues or some groups in society may use language with each other that might seem out of context as harassment. If you are reporting harassment it is important to clearly describe the situation and context and point us to the full conversation so we are able to assess things more effectively.
In some cases, if you are being harassed by an individual, it can be easier and more effective to simply block the user concerned, but that doesn’t mean you should not report it. Doing so can help us spare other people from abuse.
Some examples of harassment: Saying someone deserves to be hurt or wounded, sending them unwanted sexual material, unwelcome and sustained use of derogatory racist, sexist or homophobic slurs, using multiple accounts to send abusive comments over a period of time.
We do not permit threats of violence, incitement to violence, or implied threats of violence, against individuals or groups of people. We take this policy very seriously and people engaging in this behavior can be immediately excluded from Planetary.
As always context is important, and we won’t take action if there is no abusive or violent intent - for example in situations where friends are making such comments in jest to one another.
Some examples of unacceptable threats of violence: Threatening to seriously hurt, maim, sexually assault or kill any individual or groups of people.
* Provisional: All these policies are provisional and will be revised and updated as we see use on the platform.
