sounds good - read more could just scroll down to the new pitch why supporting pods is great and another Join Friends of Pods button or change it to "support pods" but I leave the copy to native speakers ^^ any plans to make the pitch multilingual? (if we find good copy writers for another language? is it worth the effort? )

I took a crack at a CTA bar, it's nothing crazy, but hopefully does the trick.

I took a crack at a different type of hero. I thought it would be cool to have a video in the background though. I just pulled growing with pods, but if we could create a specific one for the website that'd be good... chop out the beginning and any boring bits. It's kinda cool just showing some movement of the tool itself. We could also apply a subtle blur to it if there isn't enough contrast.

After looking at this, maybe it should just say "pods is 100% free, now and forever" line break "help us pay the bills" or something like that? it might be more impactful to have less verbage and move all that verbage below to the main content area.

I actually worked on that one agonizingly for several months to get it down to that tight bit of hook verbiage. I'd be more worried that a one liner isn't going to prevent a bounce back. The hero CTA as the primary screen load should be enough to tell you why we're doing what we're doing and do a quick emotional plea to donate, give the option to learn more or donate immediately (hence the current two button modal). If you can come up with some suggestions to tighten what we have at present, I'm all for it. I also saw some combinations that actually put the primary form front-and-center with the 'why join' as part of the form. The emotional plea could be in the primary hero to the left and then 'learn more about our cause' linking to lower sections.

Unfortunately, we also can't use the '100% free, now and forever' 'cause Give already snagged that one.

They're a freemium model thought so they don't have to turn that statement around into a plea to give us money.

On video backdrops, most websites I've seen that were using videos have flipped back to the static hero image or a slowly rotating slideshow of images behind the hero. I think it has something to do with A/B conversion and the video distracting behind content. I'd also prefer to save a video for an emotional testimonial plea about 'why did you give to Pods' type questions given to our current donors. Or we could go for the heart strings, using @sc0ttkclark 's two adorable little girls in it. And maybe a big sad eyed puppy? (wink)

Nice job! I'd like a background change on that button type on hover, though, just to be consistent with other buttons around the site. Probably for those where you're showing the background through, either go opacity white 10% or flip to white with green (whatever gives the best contrast) on hover.

We could also brainstorm on a bunch of one-liners for the CTA's. "Squash the Bugs" "Help Pods Grow" "Become a Pods Person", etc.

What are the odds someone uses the same copy I come up with. Oye vay. Well feel free to modify/delete things, i just created three different rows.

As far as the video background goes, my only thought is that the whole "pod" metaphor never really landed home for me... but i'm just throwing out ideas and you can decide what sticks :)

Blame it on the collective unconscious. I can't tell you how many times I've run into that.

Totally get that the "pods" "grow" etc might not have stuck, but it won't stick if we don't continue with it and that is the brand ;)

I did look at motion sped up versions of pea pods growing but that's way too literal. The peas in a pod connected with the brand and the building a community, so that's primarily why I chose it. Again also open to ideas ;)
