Using the latest version Pop!_OS 21.04, whenever we change the native resolution to something else and close the lid (of a laptop in this case) and reopen it, screen resolution automatically switch back to native screen resolution.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Display settings and choose a non-native screen resolution.
  2. Apply settings.
  3. Close laptop lid.
  4. Reopen laptop lid.
  5. Log in (if screen is locked)
  6. Now back to native resolution.

Does disabling the HiDPI daemon using the toggle in Settings -> Displays affect the issue at all?

What laptop are you using and what are the native/desired screen resolutions?

I have been testing this on-and-off for the last 24 hours and yes, apparently disabling HiDPI seems to solve the issue. My resolution stays when disabled, but resets when enabled.

I am using a HP Spectre x360, the native resolution is 1920x1080 but my myopia forces me to use 1440x810.

I can confirm this problem and the workaround (turning off the HiDPI daemon) on my Lemur Pro running Pop_OS! 21.04.
