Mac Tech here that forgot to run Trackpad Keyboard Mapper!

Hi all,
Dealing with a bit of a dilemma here. Recently, my client visited my repair center for a trackpad repair on a 2017 Macbook Air. When a trackpad is replaced technicians are to always run a diagnostic tool that sets the keyboard type on the clients machine. I failed to run this diagnostic. Our client called today and complained that everything is working just find on his computer, but that the function keys such as F1 and F2 are not working to modify his brightness settings.

Normally, I would ask the client to return to our shop the run the trackpad keyboard mapper tool, but in this case the customer is abroad and not able to return his computer to us. I stumbled upon this tool, and found that many community members share config files.

Why questions are as follows.

1. Will karabiner-elements help me to re-map his keys? My plan is to remote into the clients machine tomorrow.
2. Does anyone know of a basic US English config that I can use to restore his function keys.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated.
