It would be useful to send an email notification also with the last position of the landing sonde. I have set a threshold for landing sonde to 5000m - so, I have time to focus on it. But, it flies a few km until finally fall down.
The design of the notifications could be:
If the sonde is descending below the selected threshold in a distance range, send the current landing notification.
After that wait until no signal is received (rx_timeout is reached) and sonde is probably on the ground, send an email with the last detected position.
The signal could be also received if the sonde is on the ground (it's very close to me or on some tree or hill - inside the radio visibility). In this case, look for the stop of descending (maybe if descent rate <1m/s) and send an email with the current position.
Is it possible to include it?

I just use the link to sondehub (or sondehub.org/card) thats provided in the e-mail to find the last position. This also means I get any further positional information from other stations.
