Apply lattice rendering fix from qutip.lattice. #2

A major bug in lattice rendering was fixed in qutip.lattice and the same fix should be applied here. See qutip/qutip#1697 for the relevant changes.

We should also add tests for the rendering functions to be sure that they work in some situations.
