Quark: A Secure Web Browser with A Verified Kernel
A research browser built with a verified kernel to ensure that the
kernel completely impervious to certain classes of attack following
its formal security properties.

Directories & Files
./kernel/ - the Quark's kernel code written and formally
proved in Coq.
./python-browser-8/ - the python implementation of the tab process
and cookie process, initiated by the kernel.
./pywebkitgtk-1.1.8/MODIFY - a file describing the changes we made
in pywebkit to make it work with Quark.
./libsoup-2.34.0/MODIFY - a file describing the changes we made in
libsoup to make it work with Quark.

- Build & Install the Quark web browser
You need lots of packages to build and install the Quark web browser.
Since this is quite a research prototype, we strongly recommend you to
use an isolated execution environment for Quark such as a virtual
machine. Quark has been tested on Ubuntu 11.04. A basic installation
process is automated in ./install_module.sh file, and you can execute
the installation script to install most of the requied packages and
compile Quark itself. If any of the required jobs fails because of
some conflicts in your system, you have to open the installation
script, and track down what went wrong manually. As future work, we
have a plan to implement a fully functional installation script.

- Test & Run Quark
You can execute the browser
cd ./vcr/ynot/examples/vcr
./run.sh
Function Key Binding:
F1~F10 : Select a specific tab
F11 : Create a new tab
Once the browser is initialized, you need to type in a trusted domain
suffix. For example, you can type in "google.com" to trust all the
domains ending with google.com. The following websites belong to the
trusted domain set : mail.google.com, maps.google.com, etc.
Then you can see a tab is initialized with a blank screen. You need to
enter a specific URL within the trusted domain suffix to visit it. A
special tab command "\g URL" is used for that. For example, you can
type in "\g http://www.google.com" on the tab whose trusted domain
suffix is google.com. Now you can see that the tab navigated to
http://www.google.com.
