Description

Ventura ate my installer, and then ventura ate my brew installer -- it worked fine the first time, and brew will tell me it STILL EXISTS, but Ventura made me trash the app, and the command you gave to make my OS behave must only work on catalina because Ventura goes "Doesnt exist parental screech"

Not your fault btw, just warning you that the only way to get it to work on mac is the following at the moment for ventura and above:

  1. do the linux install
  2. Realize that it won't accept the brew install of tkinkter, and while you will use half of that so install it via brew ANYWAYS via: brew install python-tk
  3. Cry because you still have 5 more manual packages your OS ignores from the brew install.
  4. Once you get those, it works via the terminal command.

Reproduction steps

  1. Attempted brew install again
  2. Wouldln't update because we updated it last time
  3. After updating it told us 'CORRUPTED' (whcih is ventura speak for: 99 dolla baby)
  4. Tried the manual way
  5. Ventura corrupted the INSTALLER AGAIN.
  6. Used the linux way.
  7. Success! it is in-- oh crap it's installed but we got more to do.
  8. You'll get about 3 "Module not founds" in and you'll want to do: brew install python-tk
  9. You'll still have a miniscule amount of stuff to install but within 2-5 extra modules..
  10. VOILA! sd-prompt reader finally loads!

Again: this is more a mac/ventura issue, it's not the developers issue, it's just that sadly if you're on VENTURA or above, you'll have to use the linux version and then step by step panic when yo urealize you can't use "sudo apt'

For security reasons i don't want to screenshot my WHOLE terminal, (because i dont know if showing my location in my drive is safe or not, it probably is.. i don 't know?) - plus tracking each specific issue is a nightmare in this, it's just Ventura yeeting the easy ways for hard ways.

just letting you know, that in return: you don't have to try and FIX the easy install for ventura etc- just that the linux install will be the safest bet to move around the 99 dollar a year nutsoid requirement for a free app that is priceless <3

Darn! This is just a nightmare! Everything is fine with my Intel MBP 2019 and Sonoma. Maybe you should ask ChatGPT how to fix your brew :)

If I remember correctly, brew reinstall will ignore existing installations and reinstall. So you can try:
brew reinstall --no-quarantine receyuki/sd-prompt-reader/sd-prompt-reader

Actually, aside from using pip, you could also try the methods here, although they might be a bit troublesome.
