As stated above, the following link http://ros.org/doc/api/catkin/html/user_guide/setup_dot_py.html is dead.

  • a quick google search indicated to a ros Jade documentation (catkin 0.6.19).
  • archive.org told me the link was alive at least until 2021/01/11 (catkin 0.8.19).
  • by looking at the api html, the page itself is gone.
  • the link is presented at least in the following locations:

Questions:

  • is the function depreciated, or dead?
  • if not, can(should) we revive the documentation?

The entire documentation is down, not just one page...

This should be fixed by a new release of catkin-sphinx, see ros-infrastructure/catkin-sphinx#14

A new release of catkin-sphinx has been published. So the documentation generation should be working again.

@dirk-thomas @wjwwood @ivanpauno @gbiggs could one of you please trigger a new documentation job for noetic.

There is some kind of misbehavior in the doc job. The user_guide and howto sections are not appearing.

Using ros_buildfarm to generate a local reproduction and run it reproduces the problem but generating docs locally directly with sphinx generates those sections.

generate_doc_script.py https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ros-infrastructure/ros_buildfarm_config/production/index.yaml noetic default catkin ubuntu focal amd64 > /tmp/noetic_catkin_doc/run.sh
