RFC: user profile custom fields

Feature Request

I request to be able to view any non-standard information available on the user profile.
I would like to have the possibility to create different profiles and/or add custom fields on our user profile.
When these fields are added, it would be really handy to be able to see them in the Users overview page and filter/order the content.

Motivation

Our Students have a Start and End date for their contract inside the University.
Students have a Supervisor who is in charge of their work and on how the ELN is used.
When I create the account, I edit these information in the Profile page but there is no way to retrieve the information unless I open the profile. I can open the profile only if I use the 'Operate As' feature.
It is difficult to keep in mind who and when and also not handy to use the 'Operate As' to read the information.

If I know the End_Date of the student's contract I am able to DISABLE the account. If there are problems with an account I can contact the Supervisor.
