Agenda

  • Ian: Should we put together a Sandstorm blog post?
  • Should we set up an alternate/backup/different app market?
  • Hosting public things?
  • Sandstorm is a ____?
  • Prioritization / tracking community issues

What agenda items do we want to pull over from 12 January meeting's notes?

Adam mentioned on IRC:

I'd love to understand better the challenges standing between us and (a) federation of sandstorm instances with capability-passing (persistent caps?) and (b) grains being able to host public ActivityPub or similar apis

  • Dan K - where to put links to examples? (OAuth, Psql?) Eventually in docs, but Wiki first?

Notes

Other outreach

  • Jake: Get in touch with historical contributors/community members before calling in newbies.

Draft letter:

Hey ___,

I'm reaching out because you were previously pretty involved in the Sandstorm.io platform. A team of community members have recently started working on reviving the platform, and we've already begun pushing new features for app development (the "Cron API" is in the latest release, for example) and are working on assembling a roadmap for the near future.

Basically I'm just trying to find out whether or not people are still using the Sandstorm platform, and especially if you've moved on, what, if anything, would you need to see in order to bring you back. Are there bugs or missing features that would be the largest reason you are not using Sandstorm? Are there apps that are a must-have for Sandstorm to become your platform of choice? The community members involved in this effort are self-hosters, so our focus is going to be a bit different than previous work on Sandstorm may have been, and I feel like asking previous contributors and app developers is one of the best ways we can figure out what pain points are out there we need to address.

Thanks for any insight or help you're willing to provide!

App Market

Jacob Weisz

Priorities

  • As a business, Sandstorm was working on Enterprise sales.
  • As a community project, we care a lot more about self-hosters, and they're the low hanging fruit anyway.
