Should we have the documentation make it clear that the slug field must be of type string?

I'm new to Strapi and most tutorials out there show modeling slug fields as UIDs. That doesn't work with this plugin and may not be obvious to users. I've checked that both string and text types work. Maybe the documentation should make this clear.
