Introduction

This document describes what information AutoMod collects and how it is used.

We believe that privacy is an universal right, and therefore only store what is absolutely required for our service to function only for as long as we need it.

AutoMod is separated into several components, each of which collect, process and store different data.

When you read "the bot" or "the Revolt bot", it refers to the bot user @AutoMod (ID 01FHGJ3NPP7XANQQH8C2BE44ZY) at https://revolt.chat/.

"The Discord bot" or "the bridge" primarily refers to the application "AutoMod" (ID 965692929643524136) on the Discord chat platform (https://discord.com/), but also includes the Revolt bot mentioned above due to the tight integration between the two.

"The website" refers to the website hosted at https://automod.me/ and any subdomains, including the API at https://api.automod.me/.

When you read "we", "us" or "our", it refers to the owners and operators of the bot, bridge and website mentioned above. You can find contact information below in this document.

Any mentions of "Revolt" refer to the instance hosted at https://revolt.chat/.

Making users aware of this Privacy Policy

Due to platform limitations, it is not viable for AutoMod to ensure all server members have read and agreed to the privacy policy.

Therefore, as a server owner, it is your responsibility to make your members aware of this document. Please put a link to this page in an easily accessible place, especially if you utilize the bridge.

Which information we collect, store or process

The bot

The primary purpose of the AutoMod bot is to assist Revolt server owners in moderating content, and as such, it needs to store and process certain information.

Data stored may include:

  • Server IDs

  • User IDs

  • Message IDs

If explicitly configured by the server owner, the following data may be stored:

  • Message content, including messages edited or deleted from Revolt

  • User profile information (Avatar URL, username, nickname)

The bridge

The following only applies to text channels where message bridging has been configured. To check whether a bridge has been configured, you can use the command /bridge status on both Discord and Revolt.

The bridge has the purpose of listening to text messages on both Revolt and Discord, and retransmitting ("bridging") those messages to a text channel on the other platform. For this, the following data will need to be stored and linked together:

  • Message IDs

  • Channel IDs

  • Server IDs

Additionally, message content, attachments, usernames and avatar URLs will not be stored by AutoMod, but will need to be shared with the other platform. Other user identifiers will not be shared.

If a message is deleted on one platform, the bridge will try to redact it from the other, however this might sometimes fail due to technical problems or limitations. In that case, it is the responsibility of the Discord or Revolt server owner to remove the message.

As a user, you may object to your messages being recorded and shared:

  • On Discord, use the command /bridge opt_out true. Message events shared with Revolt will no longer include message content, attachments, embeds, your username/nickname and avatar URL. Server owners may choose to block you from messaging if you have opted out of this feature.

  • On Revolt, you may contact us with the contact information listed below.

The website

When using the website, the following information may be stored:

  • IP addresses

  • User IDs, if authenticated

IP addresses are automatically deleted within 2 hours of using the website.

Anonymized usage statistics

AutoMod keeps track of the amount of commands executed and how many messages are sent in bridged channels. This data is not linked to servers, channels or users and is publicly available here.

How this information is stored and processed

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the information mentioned above will be stored in our database as long as it is needed, or until you request to have it deleted.

All data is exclusively stored in the EU and is processed in compliance with EU privacy regulations.
