``## SYMBL.CC Data
This is the repository of SYMBL.CC.
You can help our project with one of the following ways:
- Translate it to any language
- Fix bugs
- Specify and add current data
- Add new interesting symbol sets
- Write articles about symbols, sections, languages and countries
- Improve website search
- Or donate :)
If you know git and have an account on github.com, you can fork a repo, make changes and sent pull request
.
If you have never heard all those words you can just download the latest archive, make changes and send it to: cc@symbl.cc
In a case you want to make rather big changes it is better to discuss them beforehand with us: cc@symbl.cc.
All data are stored in plain text files. Please note the following requirements:
- Encoding: UTF-8 without BOM
- Newline (EOL): in a Unix style (one symbol «\n» instead of two as in Windows). See settings of your text editor.
- Use 4 Spaces instead of Tab.
- Try to avoid extra blank lines and spaces at the end.
- Follow the format of the source files.
The repo has two data folders:
data
— main data files;
loc
— localisation files.
For example, section "Cyrillic" uses a range from 0400
to 04FF
, belongs to alphabets and is used in three languages: Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian. Such data as "range", "type", "languages" and "countries" are defined in a file data/sections.txt
.
The name of the section in a different languages (e.g. "кириллица" (Russian), "cyrillic" (English), "kyrillisch" (German)) and descriptions are stored in a folder with localisation.
-
loc/ru/sections.txt
— Russian localisation, -
loc/en/sections.txt
— English localisation, - and so on.
Each language version has special folder in loc
: loc/ru
, loc/en
, loc/de
.
If you want to translate the website to any language (for example French), you have to create a loc/fr
folder and put translations of all files from loc/en
into it.
The website uses the following principle: if some data doesn't has a translated file in the current language, it will show the English translation instead.
