Widgets all named 'Termux:Widget' #28
Comments
Hello All, Termux is a marvelous App, I am using this for many Use Cases in Cloud IoT Applications since months! One issue is annoying me: For some reasons I have to renew the widgets which have lost their names after some periods (shorter or longer) I have tried to find the root cause (the trigger) - no chance. For me it happens by random. Sometimes a reboot will heal - at the moment it doesn't - on both Smartphones. I can only read Termux:Widget as a general naming. I stongly assume the link to the name is lost as the widget itself is doing pretty fine. I am running two S9plus with Android 10 with newest updates. On both Smartphones problem occurs since 3 - 4 months now. Any help is pretty much appreciated (as I have seen, this issue is already closed - but I am missing the solution description). Best regards & Thanx in advance |
…d >=8 This is better way to create shortcuts since launcher does not get access to shortcut data of the app and android itself stores them. It may even solve problems on some launchers, mainly Samsung launcher where randomly all shortcuts get renamed to the app name, considering it will be queuering android for the shortcut names at startup. The only issue with this is that shortcuts may have an app badge on the icon as well, depending on launcher. This is likely a safety mechanism to know which app created the shortcut in case a malicious app creates shortcuts with icons of a different app. This is not controlled by termux-widget but the launcher itself, so contact launcher devs for an option to remove them. For android <8, static shortcuts will still be used since pinned shortcuts are not supported. Widgets are working great! Thanks for this.
When I first create a widget it has the name of the script. But after some amount of time the name of the widget is reset to 'Termux:Widget', which makes it difficult to distinguish the widgets from each other. Any sense of what might be going on here? I am on Android 8.0.0 if that is helpful.
