Combat Strategies

This is not a complete listing of strategies, but you may find some useful combat tips here.

Regular Enemies

Chamber of Birth

Ninja (coin chest)

Killing the ninja to reach the coin chest can be tricky. While better strats probably do exist, this will allow you to spawn the ninja quickly and reliably.

Minibosses

Twin Labyrinths

Zu (No Lamp of Time)

This requires interrupting Zu's timestop. Hitting him one (or more, for extra damage) times before the timestop will make him use it, hitting him once after using it will interrupt it.

Zu (No-retaliation window)

Pistol is the only subweapon capable of interrupting Zu, but if you time your hits carefully, you can avoid triggering the timestop retaliation. If using harder boss logic, the randomizer may expect this for Flare Gun or Earth Spear.

Dimensional Corridor

Kulullu (Main Weapon)

Kulullu always starts the fight in the same place, and there's a safe spot you can stand to get in a lot of damage, or possibly one-cycle depending on your items.

Kulullu (Caltrops)

If you can't do enough DPS for a one-cycle with your main weapon, you can spam Caltrops for the same effect.

Kulullu (No Helmet)

Requires: any forward-hitting subweapon

Ugallu

Requires: Shield

You can block Ugallu's dashing attack with the shield. If you do, Ugallu will continue to fly offscreen, and is guaranteed to land when flying back onto the screen.

It's also helpful to know that Ugallu can only jump onto platforms or the center part of the floor, so the floor underneath the left/right platform is safe except when Ugallu swoops in for a landing from the left/right side.

Lahamu (Chakram)

Requires: Chakram

A pretty safe way to fight Lahamu without taking damage, if you're willing to sacrifice a few Chakrams.

Ring: https://clips.twitch.tv/CuteTentativeWitchOptimizePrime

No Ring: https://clips.twitch.tv/AggressiveBovineYamPlanking

Lahamu (Fish Form)

Requires: Rolling Shuriken, Earth Spear, Caltrops, or Bomb

Jump into the water, wait for Lahamu to follow you in, then jump up and land on the platform with the ladder. Instead of climbing the ladder, stand on the platform and rain subweapons down onto Lahamu as he swims back and forth.

Lahamu (Main Weapon)

If you're good at timing or can afford taking a hit or two, it's probably faster to just melee him like the speedrun does.

Ushum (Caltrops)

Requires: Caltrops

Even if you don't get the one-cycle, you can do a lot of damage with very little risk to Lemeza this way.

Ushum

If you don't have a good weapon for Ushum, you can generally get him to go in circles after a few passes, if you position correctly.

Urmahlullu

The middle stream of bubbles will be aimed at your current position when Urmahlullu's eyes glow. You can use this knowledge to find a safe place during attacks.

Mushnahhu (safe)

Requires: upward-hitting weapons (Whip/Axe preferred)

There's a safe spot you can stand during all 3 phases which allows you to kill the enemies without taking any damage. Note that you need to move out of the way as the second wave spawns in order to avoid a hit.

Safe spot (shown in phase 3): https://clips.twitch.tv/ModernLuckyRutabagaCurseLit

Dodging phase 2 spawn: https://clips.twitch.tv/GentleAbrasiveHyenaSSSsss

Mushnahhu (any%)

There's a faster quick kill than this, but this is the one used by the speedrun right now.

Mushnahhu (fast)

Umu Dabrutu

Fairly safe strat if you're good at timing your jumps. Usable with just about any weapon.

Umu Dabrutu (fast)

If you have chakrams, this strat lets you get in an extra hit for each dive.

Ushumgallu

Requires: Chakram, Ring

Guardians

Bahamut (fast)

Requires: Feather, Flail Whip (can still use weaker weapons to do a lot of damage)

https://clips.twitch.tv/DarlingConcernedOwlDxCat

Viy (fast)

While the speedrun uses Caltrops and iframe combo with Flail Whip and Feather one-cycle Viy, variations of this strategy can be used to get in a lot of early damage before Viy destroys the platforms.

Tiamat (Subweapon-only)

Requires: Feather, Ring, Flare Gun, Bomb, Caltrops

Health requirements and other equipment may vary, but these are the only subweapons that can realistically hit Tiamat.
