Problems when using all 4 SEGA Master System channels #1405

Noise in SN76489 is a special case.
It has two noise frequency modes: preset, and "steal from channel 3".
By default Furnace uses the latter. Use effect 20xx to change noise mode.
In preset mode, you are limited to 3 frequencies, but then you can use channel 3 freely.

Hi, this is the first time I'm working with a tracker. I'm trying to write a song using the Master System PSG sound. I started adding the bassline to Square 1, then the drums to Noise, then the main melody to Square 2. When I started adding the harmony to Square 3, some notes on the noise channel started sounding like the main instruments on the other channels. Also, some notes on the Square 3 channel sound muted.
I set 5 instruments so far and sometimes I'm using them on more than one track, but I don't think that's the issue. I read somewhere that you can sacrifice one Square channel in order to get more Noise sounds, but I don't know how it is done and if I did it.
Can someone with more experience with the SN76489 tell me what am I doing wrong?

Wellcome to working with the real limitations of these chips, have fun! That is a real limitation of the chip as tildearrow explained, you have to choose one mode and work around with the limitations of the hardware. |

Thanks for the info! I'm trying to make a cover of a NES Batman song, and Sunsoft uses such rich drums (noise and DMC) I think I'll have to sacrifice channel 3. I just saw I can also change it on the fly, so maybe I can use both modes in different parts of the song. |

Yeah, you can do so with effect 20xy.
