One bogus url should ideally not kill the loading of an entire project. Perhaps millstone could indicate to carto that the URI is not fetchable and carto could skip compiling it, providing a stylesheet warning that the resource is not reachable?

Or millstone could exchange the uri with a filler image like browsers do.
