Status of various cameras and the HDMI2USB misoc firmware.

Canon HV20 and HV30

  • Linux Australia has ~7 of these.
  • @xfxf has 3
  • https://github.com/timvideos/HDMI2USB-misoc-firmware/issues/132
  • Sadly they only 1080i60 on their HDMI output. The camera however does support 1080p24 and 1080p30 internally and will write this progressive format to the HDV tape using pulldown. This means that it is likely using a similar pulldown method to generate the HDMI signal.
  • Roughly $150 AUD second hand
  • Comes in NSTC and PAL versions
  • Firewire and HDMI

Canon XA30

  • @xfxf 's current favorite.
  • Roughly $2000 AUD or $1700 USD
  • Native 1920 x 1080, 1/2.84" CMOS Sensor
  • 20x HD Zoom Lens
10:34 AM <xfxf> I do have to power cycle it to get the board to receive video from.it tho as previously mentioned
10:34 AM <xfxf> assume handshake issue
