Migrate to Official Integration

TJ Horner edited this page Sep 12, 2023 · 9 revisions

Since Home Assistant 2023.10, the WeatherKit integration is provided as an official component of Home Assistant. This means you will need to remove the custom component from your Home Assistant installation to continue receiving updates for the WeatherKit integration.

Having the custom component live alongside the official integration may also cause unexpected issues.

Remove via HACS

You can use this My button to go directly to the HACS repository page in your Home Assistant instance, where you can remove it:

Open your Home Assistant instance and open a repository inside the Home Assistant Community Store.

Or you can follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to HACS in your sidebar.
  2. Go to "Integrations".
  3. Search for the WeatherKit integration in the list and click it.
  4. Press the overflow menu (three vertical dots) and press "Remove".
  5. Ignore the warning about the integration being configured.
  6. Restart Home Assistant.

Manual Removal

If you manually installed, simply remove the weatherkit directory from your config/custom_components directory.

Verify Uninstallation

If you don't see the notification or repair entity anymore, then you have successfully removed the custom component.

Troubleshooting

If you are having issues with this process or are receiving other errors, join the Home Assistant Discord and mention me (@tjhorner) in the #integrations channel. I can help you out there.
