Definition

A party whose actors perform in a [role] defined by a governance framework.

Examples

• The legal entity acting in the role of an issuer or a verifier under the terms of a governance framework is a governed party.

Notes

• Governed parties agree to conform to policies and to implement rules defined by a governance framework.
• The actions of governed parties can be subject to auditing as defined by the trust assurance component of a governance framework.
