I got this error on a clean Proxmox install when using advanced install. I then ran it again, using standard settings, and adjusted cores, memory and storage after it finished successfully. |

The default sample "car-stopping.mp4" file is nowhere to be found on internet. So i use a different sample file... (dunno about legal stuff) Other error: Maybe also in /config/config.yml to disable mqtt by default: Not a problem, just an observation... Reboot of container takes longer than normal. Probably caused by the running services. Next errors: Maybe? |

I personally don't use Frigate, but there have been numerous requests for a version that doesn't require Docker. While I can't confirm its efficacy or even if it works correctly, this version leverages hardware acceleration, USB passthrough, Coral drivers, TensorFlow, FFmpeg, and more—all without Docker. |

its supposed to run much faster as it has direct access to the hardware rather than passing through multiple virtualisation layers. I personally think its crazy that Frigate only ships as a docker container as its been proven to work better without it. |

@marksie1988 the "supposed to" is the key part here, has anybody been able to confirm that performance improvement? I´m just asking because I have been running Frigate for ages on different machines, always as a docker container in Proxmox, and after adjusting the settings properly I´ve never had any issues with performance. I would love to see some analysis of Frigate running in two machines with the same specs, and compare the difference in performance with and without virtualization, because the million-dollar question considering all the advantages of virtualization would be "Is the performance improvement noticeable/enough to be worthy?" |

I know people have reported significant speed Personally I have it running in a VM with docker at the moment, but getting a coral today so looking to move it to an LXC. Although proxmox don't recommend lxc with docker so I'm looking at it without docker but then you have the issue of upgrades being a pain. |

I was first using Frigtae inside Hass OS with a Coral and no GPU transcoding (HP Microserver Gen 8). Performance was good enough for one camera (Reolink doorbell), but used a lot of system resources. That's why I bought a Nvidia P400 but found out I could not get it to work in Proxmox / Hass OS. I tried remz1337 fork that supports Nvidia GPU's, but also could not get it to work. Also it seemed like a lot of effort to install GPU drivers. Therefor I installed the normal "tteck" version and I directly removed the GPU as it is not needed. The performance difference is huge! Hass OS - Frigate:
Proxmox LXC - Frigate:
Total CPU usage in Proxmox went from 20-25% average to 15% average Also the GPU used 10W and I really don't need it anymore. Win Win |

I’ve tried so many of NVR software, none of them were perfect: Shinobi, Viseron, AgentDvr. These apps have some nice features which I miss in Frigate. But Frigate does it’s job without nag-screens or counter-intuitive configs. I’ve decided upon to stick with Frigate. |

From the Frigate website: Can you try to add “lxc.environment: plus_api_key=xxxx” to the configuration file of the LXC container? (/etc/pve/lxc/xxx.conf) A nice-to-have is: to have an entry field as part of the helper-script. |

Yea, not sure what could cause this. Found this thread (https://discuss.linuxcontainers.org/t/apt-cant-resolve-dns-on-a-lxc-debian-bullseye-container/17078) which might be related. Anyway, I added a container reboot before the apt install curl command to see if it could help, so would appreciate if you could try again. Other than that, anything specific in your network config? What's your DNS server? |

Is there a guide to get this up and running? I have Frigate running under docker but wanted to move it to an LXC container, I managed to run the script mnetioned above and Frigate is installed and I could access the Frigate GUI with the sample video. I have copied in my own config and I can access the streams for my cameras ok but I seem to have 2 problems so guessing I am missing some steps or there is maybe some other issue? The 2 issues I seem to have is that the system metrics page never loads: And it looks like recordings are not being recorded in any location (I didnt specify any location, I am not sure how to using the set up) I suspect I need to pass trhrough my coral and storage somehow but I am new to proxmox\linux so if someone can help me out on where I may be going wrong I would apprecaite it, even if a guide can be shared on steting up the coral and storage, Ideally I would like to store footage on a NAS) |

For me USB Coral 1 5.33ms, USB Coral 2 16ms. I did originally run in a Docker in LXC and it was about the same. For me it has been more stable without Docker though. I was having issues where the USB devices would drop between the LXC and Docker I think which stopped Frigate when the Coral disappeared. Solid now. I have 10 cameras, and very high detect streams (most are 4K). I have large areas and small objects I want to detect. |

installation was working yesterday -but didnt get HW acceleration running. just tried to do a clean reinstall with this install script. script run trough without errors. but now frigate and go2rtc are stuck in an restart loop via systemctl. error message from go2rtc ( dev/shm/logs/go2rtc/current): root@frigate:~# tail -f /dev/shm/logs/go2rtc/current |

script worked great a few weeks ago, but trying to get hardware acceleration working somehow killed my lxc config and had to reinstall. Now, after many attempts on 2 machines, I can't get this to work. frigate will run will all defaults, but that's it. It won't load the yml, and go2rtc is not working at all |

I saw the multiple reports that something broke in the last few days. I'm suspecting an issue with one of the dependencies. I try to clean them up when I see them, but honestly I don't care that much. It has no impact on functionality and I'm doing this in my spare time as a hobby, not a job. It installs now just fine. I agree the default install gives too much verbose information. Updating packages prints the verbose information as does the compiling of the yolov models. When I tried yesterday it didn't finish with a working Frigate install. The script successfully finished and presented the IP of the server with the correct port number to connect to. I could however not edit anything, and the static video didn't show. When I finished the script three days ago it worked great. So something else must have changed. I'm deploying now again, to see if the experience is persistent. Edit It now installed just fine. The Video is running and nvidia hardware acceleration is also working. |

I am having the same issues. Sometimes it fails in the script, sometimes it works and then doesn't load. It seems to fail in different spots as well. |

That's weird. If you can get more details (logs) when it fails, I could try to investigate. Being intermittent, I would guess it has to do with resources or network. |

What I did was added a manual mount point into the lxc config file. mp0: /mnt/CCTV/,mp=/media/frigate and rebooted |

Now is there to speed things up when looking at previous alerts or recordings in the time line sometimes it takes quite a few seconds before it starts to play. I have a 4TB WD purple drive. Would storing the footage on and SSD help with that or that's just the way things are for now? |

I want to setup fail2ban or similar and want to know what auth log file needs to be scanned. Does anyone know if failed logon attempts are logged anywhere when using the auth login on port 8971? The file at I can only find an associated POST recorded line in log at Is that the only place the 8971 port activity is logged? |

I've been doing a ton of testing recently and for some reason, frigate inside of docker inside an lxc has faster inference speeds than frigate in an lxc without docker. I would have thought having that 2nd layer of nested virtualization would have made it a bit slower but nope it's the opposite. Same machine, same corals m2 pci and a usb. On average I know it's not a huge difference but it's surprisingly noticeable on cpu usage. |

I've just managed to create a "script" with which you should be able to create a fully working Frigate LXC container, without Docker.
I've described the process here:

I know you don't accept "non-native LXC container solutions", but this technique is maybe interesting...
