Highways/Roadways Real Time Information

Problem Statement:

Transportation information in the Tulsa metro is disseminated on an ad-hoc basis usually trough TV and radio media. Many times this information is incorrect or too old to be relevant to travelers on the highway and arterial network. Information is available from the Okla. Dept. of Transportation, but is usually provided in a text-only format that is minimally useful for motorists trying to make real-time decisions about travel routes.

Suggested solution:

Create a “one-stop-shop” web interface that can aggregrate all the information about real-time traffic accidents, construction detours, and lane closures.

The website would also need to have an interactive “crowd-sourcing” feature that would allow web and smartphone users to update information real-time with an expiration date built-in so that information would expire unless it was an ongoing incident.
