Why is UI/UX important for us

UI - User Interface
UX - User Experience

  • Need to deliver our promise to the end user. UX helps us figure out the best way to do this. For example, amazon promises us to power us to buy anything online. This is achieved by letting us search for our needs and showing suggestions.
  • Simplifying the experience will leave a long lasting impression to end user to visit us again. Think about it, would you go to a coffee shop to bre your own coffee. Off course not, that is a bad user experience as it will increase wait time, burden on user, another burden of educating them how to make it right and etc.

This is why, we take a step back and put ourselves into the end user's shoes to simplify the actions and reduce the number of steps as low as we can.

Alignments

  • Our brains take a cognitive load when processing misaligned information. If I say "Remember 1,2,3,4...100" and "Remember 34,52,2,29...100", which would you remember fast? Obviously, the first sequence as it is aligned mathematically and adding 1 every time will get you new number.

Stakeholder

  • This is the ground rule. You need to write down who are your users. Break them into categories and try to serve them accordingly.
  • If your stakeholder is a pro, you can skip a lot of things and deliver them the direct/deep information

Bias

  • It is often so easy to accept our own design because it looks good. Very often, systems fail in the end user's hands.
  • So, the best way to avoid this is to come out of this bias and ask for honest feedback.
  • And the most important thing is also to accept that feedback as positive. In our view, a circular box may seem better option. If the requirement is for a square box, it is recommendable to do it.

Innovation

  • UI/UX design thrives on innovation. You can break any rule.
  • Do not let anything belittle your creativity. Humans are born creative, you just need to explore.
  • If it fits the machine you're trying to run your app and users are loving using it, there is no other criteria to reject your idea.
