Description

A chopping block is a block that allows splitting and peeling logs as an alternative to crafting grid recipes.

Recipe

A chopping block is crafted by Carving a large log. First place the large log down on the ground so that the sides that have been cut point up and down. Then using an Adze carve out the very top layer of the block (reducing its size to 4x3x4). Lastly, mine the block to complete the recipe.

Usage

A chopping block can be used to split logs with an axe and peel logs with an adze.

Hold an item that you want to place on the Chopping Block in your hand and right click the block to place it. Then right click the top of the block while holding an axe to chop it up. The resulting material is dropped behind the chopping block, opposite of the player.

Up to four small items can be placed on the chopping block, or one that is large.

Right click the top of the chopping block with an empty hand to retrieve an item that has been placed on it.

A chopping block can also serve as a storage for axes. Hold an axe or an adze in your hand and right click to place it on the chopping block when there are no other items on it.

Notes

  • Chopping block supports recipes from other mods involving various materials and employing various tools. For example, a Sawbuck block could be added that could be used to saw logs into planks.

Future Features

  • It will probably be possible to split large logs on a chopping block. For now, I can't get them to render properly placed on top of the Chopping Block, as they are using a custom item render.
