Description

Firewood is wooden material primarily used for fuel.

Recipe

Firewood is created by combining logs, chopped logs or Peeled Logs with an axe in your crafting grid.

If the logs, chopped logs or Peeled Logs have been seasoned in a Wood Pile, the produced Firewood will be seasoned too.

There is a small chance that splitting logs and chopped logs drops usable Bark that may be processed further. The chance is slightly higher if the log has been seasoned in a Wood Pile.

Alternatively, Firewood can be created by splitting logs on a Chopping Block with an axe.

Firepit Fuel

Firewood needs to be seasoned in a Wood Pile before it can be used as fuel.

Seasoned Firewood will burn at the same temperature as the log it came from would, and just as long. Cooked and smoked food will acquire the taste profile of the original log too.

Seasoned Firewood can only be used as fuel in the new Firepit added by this mod.

Pit Kiln

Seasoned Firewood can be used in the top layer of the pit kiln.

Up to 8 pieces of Seasoned Firewood will be added at one time when a pit kiln is clicked, from the held stack of Seasoned Firewood, or from the player's inventory. Similarly, Seasoned Firewood is retrieved all at once if already present.

Notes

  • Firewood presents means to turn logs, chopped logs and Peeled Logs into a single item intended as fuel.

  • Firewood cannot be stored in a chest and needs to be placed in a Wood Pile for storage.

  • Seasoned Firewood can be used to make Charcoal. The harder the wood type, the greater charcoal yield.

Known Issues

  • Partial seasoning progress is transferred from logs to the Firewood only when the Firewood is crafted one at a time, by dragging the Firewood item from the output slot. Shift clicking the output slot will cause any seasoning progress on the original item to be lost. Splitting and peeling logs on a Chopping Block does not suffer this issue.
