Trapping Pit
A Trapping Pit is a hole covered with woven sticks and straw.
To construct a Trapping Pit first dig a hole. Because Wattle Trapdoor can only be attached to a solid block, the width of the hole cannot be greater than 2 blocks. For optimal function the minimum hole size of 2 by 2 blocks is recommended.
To build the cover of the Trapping Pit, attach Wattle Trapdoor to the edges of the hole, closing it off entirely and then right click the top of each Wattle Trapdoor while holding a piece of straw and sneaking. The Wattle Trapdoor must be closed and attached to the top of the block.
A mob walking over a part of the Trapping Pit will cause this part to collapse, and the mob falls into the pit. A Trapping Pit can be used to capture mobs alive, by a player chasing them or luring them to the Trapping Pit, or when they randomly walk over it. A fence or similar construction can help guide the mobs into the Trapping Pit.
Wattle Trapdoor drops as 4 sticks when the Trapping Pit cover collapses. The cover drops as a piece of straw.
- There is a number of effective ways to "cheese" trapping mobs, however the Trapping Pit attempts to present a more fair and involved alternative that costs material and time.
- No animals were harmed during the testing of the Trapping Pit.
