Test moment week 1
Before the first test moment took place, the group of 10 students who will design something with Marijn was divided into 2 groups of five. There were five students who worked on the first case (date picker) and five with the second case (Drag & Drop). I went to look at the date picker together with four other students.
Before we could start testing with Marijn, the case was considered together with the other four students and a number of questions arose that we would like to ask. After this I drew up a test plan myself to type out exactly what was tested and what the purpose was:
Marijn Meijles
Thursday April 8, 2021
An exclusive web design for and with Marijn Meijles.
Making a datepicker easier for Marijn.
- Via the online tool Whereby.
- Taking notes while Marijn is testing.
- Watch Marijn's screen.
- Record the test, if possible.
- Get to know Marijn
- Gaining insights into what is currently hindering Marijn while using a date picker.
- Testing which inputs work best for Marijn.
- Can you tell us something about yourself?
- What do you like to do in your spare time?
- What is your favorite color / music style?
- How do you use your device(s)?
- What kind of browser do you use?
- What is your goal for using this date planner?
- Is there a specific route that you often travel on?
- How far in advance do you plan your trip?
- How often do you plan to use the date picker?
- What are your current bottlenecks with the websites you often use?
In this test we give Marijn the test link (Created with Lars, Johan, Chazz, Rowin etc.) in which various data input forms can be seen. This does not yet show a 'flow', but more to determine what works and what does not work for Marijn.
Below is an image for when the test link no longer works:
- 44 years old.
- Has two sons.
- Lives in Velthoven (Eindhoven).
- Is a developer with over 30 years of experience.
- Works for a company in Amsterdam that provides meta-data to music streaming services.
- Loves heavy noise music (metal).
- Doesn't like many colors on the website - Prefers dark mode.
- Loves to look up the edge cases in prototypes.
- Have the Sticky Keys turned on in the accessibility settings.
- Uses VIM code editor / code editor with VIM installed.
- Does not use the tab key but only the right side of the keyboard (VIM shortcuts, space & enter).
- Also uses trackpad with his thumb.
- The less he has to do on a website himself, the better.
- Travels (normally before Corona) to the office (Amsterdam) every day.
- Uses NS travel assistance, which means that the train must be arranged at least 1 hour in advance.
- When he travels elsewhere: He plans the night before.
- It is not possible to book NS travel assistance more than two weeks in advance.
- Problem at NS site: Typing in long words & clicking specific station is not smooth (Amersfoort instead of Amsterdam).
- Defaults is a good option for him.
- Marijn finds it nonsense to fill in the year with travel planner.
- Looks up edge case: Enter -1 for dates.
