Test moment week 3

veerleprins edited this page Apr 30, 2021 · 3 revisions

Based on the second test moment and the progress meeting with teacher Vasilis, I received a number of insights that I would like to take into account when designing the prototype. I have briefly described these insights below to immediately see how I can make my own first prototype:

Feedback / Results test 2

Study situation

Because Marijn has difficulty with his fine motor skills, it is important to make parts on the site large enough OR to make the click / key surface as large as possible for him. For example, it seemed wise to focus everything on the keyboard and to make the 'pressing' surface on the keyboard larger.

Ignore conventions

As I also noticed last time, it is wise to use defaults on a page. In this way, Marijn does not have to enter the date and time as you normally would, but you can book the train journey that you already use very often in one go.

Prioritise Identity

Since my prototype didn't work quite the way I wanted in test 2 (the image related to heavy metal didn't work), it was important that I still add it in the last prototype. I had already worked with dark mode in my first prototype because Marijn had already indicated in the first week that he preferred dark mode. In addition, I want to make the prototype even more specific by displaying certain pieces of text with a metal-like font. This makes the prototype even more specific for Marijn.

Add Nonsense

I was suddenly thinking of certain keys that Marijn could use to play an electric guitar himself. I'm just not quite sure about this yet ...

Product

An exclusive web design for and with Marijn Meijles.

Purpose of the product

Making a datepicker easier and fun to use for Marijn.

How we test

  • Via the online tool Whereby.
  • Taking notes while Marijn is testing.
  • Watch Marijn's screen.
  • Record the test, if possible.

Purpose of the test

  • Test whether he thinks the keyboard layout works properly.
  • Test what he thinks of the default 'cards' (buttons).
  • Testing whether there are other areas for improvement.

Questions to be answered

  • How do you feel about using the keyboard with this layout?
  • What could be different?
  • What do you think of the default cards at the 'Anders ...'

Explanation testing

For testing I put a prototype online under the following link: Live Demo: Prototype - Version 3

Here is an image of the prototype:

All the Notes

  • Don't use 'my location'! This can cause the wrong train station & is also unsafe.
  • It is as Marijn says 'Too bad' that he still has to press Enter before confirming his travel plan.
  • 'In 1 hour' and 'As soon as possible' is the same for Marijn because of the NS travel assistance that he needs.
  • Think about what happens if you enter the same station at the departure and arrival station.
  • Marijn is not much of a fan of Metallica. So don't use this in the design.
  • Getting positive feedback in the application is good (also liked Marijn).
  • Marijn finds it easier to navigate from top to bottom than from left to right (with the keyboard in VI keys)
  • It takes Marijn more time to switch from keyboard to trackpad: Try to avoid this.
  • Thinking about adding the days of the week (instead of 26-04-2021).
  • Smart idea for the stations: Only add the stations that offer NS travel assistance.
  • What happens if Marijn tries to break something? Maybe think about this.
