Stylevar

A Stylevar, or Style Variable, is an option in the BEE2 which can be used to change things on a style. Stylevars can be configured using the Style Properties window in the lower-right. The BEE2 has 12 stylevars as of Pre-Release 21.5, with more coming in each update.

Stylevars

All styles

  • Multiverse Cave - Adds workshop Cave Johnson lines at the start of the map when published. Unlike normal voicelines, Multiverse Cave lines will play on map start, instead of playing when you enter the actual chamber.
  • Prevent Portal Bump (fizzler) - Prevents placing portals across fizzler edges, or in tight spaces near fizzlers.
  • Suppress Mid-Chamber Dialogue - Disables mid-chamber voicelines.
  • Unlock Default Items - Allows you to delete, copy, and place the entry door, exit door, and large observation room. This should only be used for the large observation room, as having multiple or no entry and exit doors can have weird effects and will crash the game if you enable/disable co-op mode.
  • Allow Adding Goo Mist - Adds mist particles above goo. Although this looks good, it can increase the entity count with large amounts of goo.
  • Show Triggers In-Game - Makes triggers render when the map is compiled. Even if this is on, published maps will still have invisible triggers.
  • Pellets Destroy Cubes - Uses behavior from Rexaura to make High Energy Pellets destroy cubes when hit. This behavior is needed for Cube Deflectors to work as intended. This stylevar is listed in the Selected Style section, even though it is available on all styles.

Specific Styles Only

  • Goo Debris - Adds junk, such as metal beams into goo.
    • Available on: Overgrown
  • Door Cameras - Adds cameras above the entry and exit doors.
    • Available on: Clean, Portal 1
  • Open Enrichment Sphere - The upper parts of the enrichment sphere have been destroyed, showing the test shaft and the sphere above. This option greatly increases compile times, however.
    • Available on: 1980s
  • Use P1 Portal Gun - Uses the Portal 1 portal gun model and sounds in SP. It is cleaner and has different animations.
    • Available on: Portal 1
  • Use Worldportal Light Strips - Uses worldportals to make the Portal 1 light strip tunnels longer. This looks better, but can break the rendering if there are too many lights on-screen.
    • Available on: Portal 1

Removed

  • Prevent Portal Bump (glass) - "It was originally going to help block portal shots across glass, but you really need to remove the portal surface around the glass to make that work properly." - TeamSpen210

Mentioned

To-do: Add other mentioned stylevars to this list

  • BTS Transition Entry / BTS Transition Exit (#607) - Would use a special entry/exit corridor which allows you to trasition to/from BTS levels. TeamSpen210 has mentioned that this would be a stylevar, and not an entry corridor option.
