The stable_id_event table can be used to find old ids for a gene. Load these into an id_history field if they differ from the gene stable id. These will be required for the maize v4 search database so people can search for genes using old GRMZM IDs.

Good idea. Here is the source for discontinued ids in v2:

We can load these into the stable_id_event table for the maize v4 core db when that moves to gramene (release 51?)
