the watchdog will detect if there's been no reply from the camera after 10 minutes. this time is chosen to be an effective max exposure time, since the CCD cannot communicate during an exposure. However, this means that it can sit dead for long periods even when there have been multiple failed commands noticed by WSP. An improvement would be something within WSP that would trigger a WSP restart if it detects some number of failed camera commands (eg, if it has 5 exposures fail, or 3 exposures fail and 2 exposure time requests fail) then it runs self.wintercmd.parse("kill") and reboots itself.
